This practical and highly-interactive course includes various practical sessions and exercises. Theory learnt will be applied using our state-of-the-art simulators.
This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of Design Engineering for Project Engineers. It covers the role of design engineering in projects including design lifecycle and deliverables, design basis and engineering specifications and multidisciplinary design engineering; the engineering document management, design planning and scheduling, man-hour estimation and resource planning, risk identification and mitigation; the change management in design phase, design coordination and progress tracking; the site layout and geotechnical inputs, foundation and structural framing concepts, steel versus concrete structures and load calculations and design codes; and the mechanical and piping design, electrical design essentials, instrumentation and control systems and process design fundamentals.
During this interactive course, participants will learn the various types of design reviews, participants and responsibilities, checklists and documentation and tracking and closing review comments; the design codes and industry standards, constructability and operability in design and HSE design; the principles of value engineering (VE), cost reduction without compromising quality and function analysis and brainstorming; integrating design with procurement and construction and the redline markups and updating process, coordination with contractors and QC teams, submission formats and digital archives and final documentation checklist; and the digital design tools and trends, managing design interfaces and design quality assurance and auditing.
