Course Description
This practical and highly-interactive course includes various practical sessions and exercises. Theory learnt will be applied using our state-of-the-art simulators.
This course is designed to provide participants with a detailed and up-to-date overview of Compressor Operations & Troubleshooting. It covers the role of compressors in refinery and petrochemical plants and basic gas compression principles; the types of compressors used in plants, main compressor components, compressor performance terminology and operator roles and responsibilities; the compressor drivers, lubrication oil systems and seal systems; the cooling systems, instrumentation and control basics and compressor protection systems; the pre-start-up checks, start-up procedures and normal operating monitoring; and the load change and capacity control, shutdown procedures and operating within design limits.
During this interactive course participants will learn the compressor surge, abnormal vibration issues and temperature and pressure abnormalities; Recognize lubrication and seal system problems, capacity and performance loss and alarm and trip troubleshooting; the integrated troubleshooting approach and process-related compressor problems; the common operator mistakes, importance of communication, shift handover weaknesses and building situational awareness; the major compressor-related hazards and fire, explosion, and overpressure risks; the safe response during emergencies and personal and process safety integration; the daily operating checklists and early reporting of abnormalities; and the good operating discipline and operator contribution to asset life.
